We are in the midst of a sermon series titled “Those Who Know Your Name”, which is taken from Psalm 9:10, “Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” When we know who God is, we trust him and desire to seek him more. For the month of January we will be looking together at the names and titles of God, so that our faith in him might grow and we might seek him more.
This morning we look together at a title that helps us trust and praise God as the highest of kings. He is El Elyon, God Most High. There is no one over him. There is no one more exalted, no one who has more authority or strength. There is none more worthy of praise. None who is a more secure refuge. None more worthy of praise.
We will look at the story of a king who came to know this, then forgot, then had to learn it again the hard way.
