It’s hard to imagine someone saying to you, “if you do sin…”If?
Isn’t sin a certainty?
Can it be avoided?
Can we not sin?
Sin is not an obligation. But sin dwells in us deeply.
So it seems hard to imagine anyone saying “if you sin” instead of “when you sin”.
And since sin is simply forgiven by confessing, why fight sin? Why hate sin?
If we sin, what do we do? We confess. And how does that work? Is our sin swept under some cosmic rug? How can God be both faithful and just when we are oftentimes neither?
This morning it comes down to two words Jesus is for us:
– Advocate
– Propitiation
