The Embodied Word

Imagine if your words became visible before your eyes. Imagine your words taking form. Would that be exciting? Frightening?

In the prologue to the Gospel of John, we were introduced to the Word, who was before the beginning and through whom everything came into existence. John described the Word as life and light.

Last week we saw that light came into the world. A very simple Christmas story! As always, light demanded a response. Light is confrontational like that.

This morning we will see that the Word became flesh. The life took on human life. And He was glorious. He was full of grace and truth. He never scraped the bottom of the barrel in an effort to get more grace and truth. And the World overflows to us with more grace and truth!
The Word is how we know God. The Word is God’s way of initiating relationship with us.
