This morning we finish this series with the simple prayer, “tune my heart to sing thy grace”, taken from another great song of the faith. In Galatians 2 we find the apostle Paul confronting Peter to his face. Why the confrontation? Because Peter was not keeping in step with the gospel. Because he feared the opinion of one group of people, he played the hypocrite and avoided fellowship with another group of people. Paul pointed out Peter’s lack of grace. Peter’s heart was out of step and out of tune with grace.
How do we keep in tune with grace? How do our hearts get out of tune? How do we get them back in tune? When an instrument gets out of tune, the strings must be stretched back into tune. And so must we be stretched, sometimes painfully so, to get us back in tune with grace.
